Does splitting a PDF reduce its quality?

No. The pages are copied as they are, with their original resolution, fonts and vector graphics, into a new file. Nothing is re-rendered or compressed.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not while it is locked. Open it in a PDF reader with the password, save an unlocked copy, and split that. The tool cannot read encrypted pages.

Is there a limit on file size or page count?

There is no fixed limit because the file is processed in your own browser rather than on a server. Very large files simply take longer on slower devices, and a phone will be slower than a laptop.
